The song this week is entitled "Merseybeat Memories" and reminds us of the \ncontribution Liverpool made to the world of music back in the day....the song was the B side of a vinyl 45 which I was commissioned to write for the Merseyside tourism \ndept...the A side being Beatle City.....it sold very well in the tourist centres and to my \nknowledge was the first record to be released on a council label (my idea)\n\n....We have been overdosed with the Donald Trump saga.....I must say it is very \nentertaining but makes you wonder about the result of the whole thing....Hillary or \nDonald?....what a choice.....I have never seen such an ugly exchange between two so \ncalled world leaders...it was like watching a movie...except you couldn't make that \nup.....the U.S.A. has definitely lost its way.\n\n....I do enjoy Strictly Come Dancing....purely for the spectacle of talented fit young men \nand beautifully sculpted ladies gliding around the dance floor to the sound of a great \nband....all going well until the press get hold of it....alleging it's "rigged" and it's "racist" \nbecause the first two out of the competition were black.....it's beyond me why someone \nalways has to put a downer on things .... probably stems from ITV who are struggling \nfor viewers for the X Factor garbage......and Will Young has thrown his dummy out of \nthe pram and walked out....so he won't be getting his full fee....now he only gets 5 \ngrand......joke or what?\n\n...On the racist theme....which always only seems to go one way....I read an article \nabout my mate Jimmy Krankie (aka Janette Tough)...who was cast as a Chinese \nwoman in the Ab Fab film...with Jenny Saunders and Joanna Lumley.....this American \njournalist was "disgusted" at the portrayal of a Chinese person with yellow skin and \nspeaking in a weird voice....oh dear....some people should get over themselves...IT'S \nCOMEDY!!!....get a life.......I know Janette well and the last thing she is is \nracist....fandabidozi.\n\n....forget the soldiers risking their lives for the country...and the paramedics who save \nlives etc etc....they obviously don't deserve to be awarded or even knighted...unlike \nSIR Rod Stewart.....what is the world coming to....Rod the Mod....who I think gargles \nwith sand...for his contribution to music.....isn't he just doing a JOB?...a knight of the \nrealm?....Sir Van Morrisson...Sir Mick Jagger...etc...maybe I'm missing something but \nwhat have they done other than make money for themselves?....hey ho...that's what \nmakes Britain grate.\n\n...finally, we pay tribute to the wonderful character acting of Jean Alexander who played Hilda Ogden in the series Coronation Street.
