We are rehearsing for the upcoming show with James Burton\u2026.his son isn\u2019t well by all accounts but hopefully he\u2019ll be O.K. by July\u2026.the song this week isn\u2019t one of mine (sadly) but it\u2019s part of the live concert I did with James a few years back\u2026it\u2019s one of Ricky Nelson\u2019s classics\u2026.listening to it brought back a lot of memories.\n \nI watched the VE Day Concert last weekend and was blown away\u2026.I thought it was sensational\u2026the orchestra were top of the range as were most of the artists\u2026the sound man should be knighted\u2026it was brilliant and very moving\u2026.I felt the rendition of \u201cYou\u2019ll never walk alone\u201d at the end by Alfie Boe and Katherine Jenkins was a bit misplaced\u2026.the song was written in 1945 when the war was over\u2026but maybe Alfie is promoting his latest CD?...apart from this I thought the show was outstanding.\n \nThen we have the mindless morons who always appear from under the nearest stone with the slightest excuse to have a stupid demonstration over the election result\u2026part of which was to daub graffiti on the memorial to the women who played their part in the war\u2026.spraying \u201cTory Scum\u201d along with an expletive on the memorial\u2026THESE are the dopes who the heroes were fighting for\u2026makes me sick\u2026.it achieves absolutely nothing \u2026.and sadly we have to wait another million years for them to evolve.\n \nArt has been on the news this week with a Picasso fetching 120 million quid\u2026very nice\u2026considering a sixth former could do better\u2026.apparently these things are purchased as an investment\u2026in 10 years it will be worth twice that\u2026.but it doesn\u2019t work with cheap paintings\u2026you have to be a billionaire to double your money\u2026so that\u2019s O.K. then\u2026\u2026..then we have the wonderful Turner Prize\u2026we\u2019ve had the unmade bed\u2026now we have the street in Liverpool which up until recently was derelict and run down\u2026.causing the council to sell off the houses for ONE POUND\u2026.but they have grown a few hedges and grass and it\u2019s up for the famous Turner Prize\u2026am I missing something here?.\n\n....and speaking of billionaires I have been watching the Cannes Film Festival with all the stars including Cheryl Cole\u2026who proves beyond a shadow of a doubt that you can get anywhere with absolutely no talent.\n \nLastly\u2026.we must all feel sorry for Kevin Pieterson who can\u2019t get into the England cricket team\u2026despite scoring a record 350 in one innings for his county\u2026.but the selectors don\u2019t like him\u2026boo hoo he\u2019s not my friend\u2026for Heaven\u2019s sake cricket is by far the most boring sport under the sun and that\u2019s when you are WINNING !!....these guys get very well paid and why I\u2019ll never know\u2026.yawn yawn.\n \nOh and congratulations to Ant and Dec for getting another BAFTA award\u2026.one day we will be able to turn the TV on and they wont be there looking back at us\u2026but not at the moment.
