b"As you may know, when The Gold Key Adventurers Society isn’t holding its weekly meeting, we all work as travel planners with Key to the World Travel. The last few days have been pretty rough for the travel industry as a whole. With the escalation of the COVID 19 outbreak worldwide, many popular travel destinations have temporarily shut down operations. We’ve been hard at work, helping our travel clients to reschedule their trips for later dates. As a result-we’re pooped, and it’s only Tuesday. Also, we’re officially on island time, so we can recharge and make sure next week’s show is full of the lighthearted travel fun you’ve come to expect of us.
We think you’re going to like next week’s show-Heather will tell you about all the sights, sounds and feels that went with being at Walt Disney World this past weekend, before they temporarily shut down operations. Then, we’ll share some of our favorite ways to enjoy the magic of a Walt Disney World vacation from the shelter of your own home.
Until then, we’re going to sit back and imagine we’ve drifted away, Lapu Lapu in hand, to the tropical paradise of the Poynesian Village Resort. Here’s how to make one for yourself:First, gather your ingredients. You’ll need a dark rum of your choice(we suggest Meyers’s Jamaican Rum), sweet and sour mix, orange juice, and ice. Optional, but highly recommended, is a pineapple to craft into a drinking vessel.
If you’re drinking straight from the pineapple, island style, trim the crown, cut the top off the pineapple, and cut a notch in the outside edge to put your straw in. Then, use a pineapple corer to hollow out the fruit (careful not to spring a leak!)
Next, assemble the beverage. If you have a cocktail shaker, throw some ice in there. Then, add 2 oz dark rum (we suggest Meyers’s Jamaican Rum), 2 oz orange juice, 3 oz pineapple juice, and one ounce sour mix. Give it a good shake to mix it up and chill it down, then serve and enjoy. For an extra kick, you can float an ounce of Bacardi 151 on top.
We can’t wait to share more fun ideas and recipes to help bring the magic of the Disney Parks into your home. If you have ideas of your own that you’d like to share, send us an email to goldkeyadventurers@gmail.com, or send a text or voicemail to 616-378-6149, and we’ll share your ideas on the air!
As always, a huge thank you to our sponsor, Key to the World Travel.
