Nomad to Expat to Family Man: Jason Moore Pivots on His Terms

The only constant is change. And today, we can add "pivot" to that constant. Oftentimes we pivot to stay afloat, but if we've paid attention to our needs, we pivot on our terms to keep things alive, vibrant, exciting. Humans aren't static creatures. We're fluid. We pivot. And so does Jason Moore of the Zero to Travel Podcast. This is his story of transitioning from nomad to expat to family man.

What do you want to be when you grow up?

What do you want to be when you grow up? How often have we heard that question? And I'm willing to bet most of us never had a real answer. And now that we have grown up, we continue to ask ourselves that same question. Why? Why wait until you've "grown up" to take action on what you want to be or do? Why not do it now? You may not know your career path, but I bet you know what makes you smile and come alive. In that sense then, you can take action now.

Jason did just that. He couldn't tell you what he wanted to be when he grew up, but he did know that he wanted to travel. So whatever job came his way - even if that meant picking up cigarette butts in Florida - if it allowed him to travel, he was in. And it didn't stop there. From travel gigs to roadie gigs, he traveled for his job, and then traveled for pleasure. But what he really traveled for was the experiences it gave him.

Meet Jason Moore of Zero to Travel

Through those experiences, Jason realized that people needed to know that they can travel while living and working, too. That was the spirit behind the podcast - to inspire people to travel the world on their terms, to pivot on their terms, so to say. Jason has created a space for conversations around travel, and not just the beauty of it, but the chaos of it, as well. Living a nomadic life sounds exotic, and it can be, but it's still real-life, and it's not always what's portrayed on social media.

Meet Jason Moore, the driving force and podcaster extraordinaire of the Zero to Travel Podcast and Location Indie Community. Once a full-time traveler, living and working from all over the world, now a full-time parent and family man, we talk everything from travel to beer to being an expat.

However, yours was one of the first podcasts I started listening to and remains at the top of my list. To be able to interview you and talk about your travels was like sitting at a bar chatting with a lifetime friend. We hope to do exactly that when our paths cross in the real world. The virtual world is great in that it gets us together when we can't actually be together, but getting out into this crazy world we all live in is a gift.
