When Mitch and Sofia agreed to take in Kano, an adorable English Bulldog with a big personality, they were under the impression that they were helping a coworker by fostering her brother's dog, who was incarcerated at the time.
\nKano came to them in awful shape: emaciated, abused, fearful, having multiple infections and no house training, he also did not know how to play with toys. Over the first month, after multiple vet visits, extensive training and bonding, Kano was very happy in his newfound home. The coworker's mother met up with Mitch, Sofia & Kano and agreed that he should stay with them.
\nThis was until the son of that mother was released from his incarceration and decided he wanted Kano back. He took Sofia and Mitch to court ... and WON!
\nThrough this, it was learned that in most of the United States, animals are viewed as physical property as opposed to living beings. Listen here as the couple, along with their attorney, tells us the heartbreaking story, their struggles, triumphs, about the appeal they have filed, and what they plan to do next.
