It's a tongue in cheek book about "Jasper" the dog's devotion to Richard's wife Meredith. I think Richard kind of describes it a a romance between Meredith and Jasper. No one is really allowed to kiss Meredith, especially Richard, without Jasper looking on with his discerning eye of judgment. It's a fun read for anyone who feels like they are second or third or fourth place to the furry creatures of the house. By the way, Richard really does love that dog!
