This book is flat out, flat out! The tease goes like this... His dying father is in a hospital room hooked up to breathing apparatus making it difficult to communicate. He motioned the author Mike to come a little closer. He told Mike he was glad he was there and went on to tell his son, "YOU are a complete disappointment!" \n\nAnd he was just getting started....\n\nThis is a really raw, painful, intimate and ultimately joyful look at a very complex father/son relationship. But I think it could just as easily be a mother/son, daughter/father or mother/daughter relationship. It crosses all boundaries. I find it difficult to believe that this is as isolated as one might think. I believe people don't talk about it or are embarrassed to talk about it. How does one begin to process such a thought? A parent who is competitive and jealous of their own offspring. \n\nThis is a must read for many reasons...it's entertaining and actually has some very funny moments, there are moments that made me uncomfortable but there is learning and growing and revelation too.
