* BIO: Tim McCarthy has a Master\u2019s Degree in Education and a Grandmaster rank in the martial arts. He has combined his years of experience as a classroom teacher and administrator (in both public and private schools) with even more years of experience teaching and developing martial arts programs to create a simple plan for the education of children. He has spent years researching developmental #childpsychology, chosen the best studies, and distilled them into simple, understandable language. He then drew on his vast knowledge of activities that help children become stronger physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually, and arranged them according to the capabilities of children at each age.  His unique perspective combining Eastern and Western educational philosophy creates a powerful road map for raising balanced children in an increasingly unbalanced world. Martial Arts Journey:  Started training in college, but realized I could hurt someone, so I quit. While still in college I got over that and began training seriously in several arts. Continued training under different teachers in different styles until I settled in Taekwondo, where I earned my black belt in 1978. Progressed through the ranks while teaching school, then got FIRED as a basketball coach, so quit as a teacher and administrator. Continued training and worked as an educational consultant for a private company and got FIRED from that job, so decided to become a full-time martial artist. Taught full time and managed a school, then moved up into a management company for hundreds of schools in the US and Canada. I wrote newsletters, designed ads and promotions, wrote and edited a magazine, produced webinars and more to help the school owners run a more successful school and business. Developed a comprehensive after school martial arts program and co-authored several books, and after 30 years, retired with the rank of 9th Dan Grandmaster.
