We now have an established church in our country, and it is a Secular Church. The first amendment's "freedom of religion" clauses had a distinct purpose, but it was not to separate church and state to the extent, or in the manner, that we turn our backs on God.

Instead of ensuring that opposing religious factions don't persecute one another, modern interpretations of the establishment clause have been used to attack religion. This is a serious problem, and one that needs to be addressed.

\n
The First Amendment of United States ConstitutionCongress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.
