In “Set Apart From To Be Set Apart For”, Rodney shares that sanctification is an event that occurs both at one’s conversion, is subsequent to the new birth, and is a daily ongoing experience in the life of a devoted follower of Christ. The new life we have in Christ means there is a separation from what is sinful, and consecration to what is righteous and holy. When you become a Christian, the Holy Spirit begins to be a part of your life. He helps you live your life for God, and not yourself. At our conversion, we now have an inner desire to live according to the will of God. Everyday we walk and live in Christ, in the power of the Holy Spirit, to live the “Sanctified Life”. Too often we think sanctification is our doing, but it is a work of God in and through us. I Corinthians 1:30 states, “Christ made us right with God; he made us pure and holy, and he freed us from sin.” So, you have been set free, so that, you can be set forth. Therefore, we believe in sanctification subsequent to the new birth, through faith in the blood of Christ, through the Word, and by the Holy Spirit.
