After today we will be pausing our series of reflections on the Psalms until the end of August. We hope and pray that you have found them helpful and that they have brought hope during this season. This will be our final reflection on the Psalms for a few weeks, as we slow things down in order to rest and relax during the summer holidays. It's been an extraordinary year. Yet, it is only extraordinary for our generation. So many generations before us have seen plagues, wars, famines and similar defining moments. From the vantage point of our lives, 2020 will be a year that we will all remember. The psalmist calls for us to shout for joy, to worship the Lord and to sing joyful songs (verses 1-2). We still aren't permitted to do these in public, but we can with those we live with or on our own. We are always permitted to enter his presence with praise and thanksgiving (verse 4). We don't know when life will return to normal, but the psalmist says, it is God who made us and we are his (verse 3). God has a far superior vantage point and he remembers the millennia. He has been faithful through all the generations (verse 5). That means he will be faithful in our generation. Whatever the last four months have been like for you, and whatever the rest of 2020 will bring, know that God is good, God is loving and God is faithful. Why not spend time this summer being still and know the presence of God with us. If you do not know God's love, ask Jesus to show you now. Lord Jesus, we love you because you first loved us. Show us more of the Father's love for us, through the power and presence of your Holy Spirit.
