While God knows we are not 'perfect', He is aware of the gap between His expectations and our behavior. Our naive efforts may result in us lowering God's standards or us 'trying' harder in futile attempts to meet impossible standards (often of our own making). In reality, God simply expects us to Rely on Him, Repent to Him and Rest in Him.
