A Discussion on Mental Health & Suicide from a Vedantic Perspective between Swami Swatmananda, Dr.Sunitha Shanker(Clinical Psychologist & Chinmaya Mission Mumbai), Smt.Chitra Ahuja(Sevika from Chinmaya Mission Brisbane) & Sri Devesh Tilokani(Chinmaya Mission Dubai) Questions we interact on are: 1. With increasing comforts and technology why have mental health issues also increased? 2. What are the causes of suicide? 3. Does Peer pressure/heartbreak/things that youth are going through/exams become the reason for pushing someone to the thought of taking ones life ....how such ignorance can be taken care by introducing the study of Vedant? 4. What are the symptoms that one should look out for when it relates to mental health issues? What is the family\u2019s role within this? 5. How do you get the youth to realize the importance of anchoring within? 6. How does one explain to the youth who talks about no karma, no life after death? 7. Sometimes when parents go to mental health professional, professionals say don\u2019t tell the kids anything but just listen to the kid, how do you deal with this? 8. What happens to someone's soul when they make the person commits suicide? 9. All actions are committed with either a revulsion to sorrow or a yearning for joy as Swami Chinmayananda described in the book, 'Self Unfoldment' How do we reach this permanent state of joy or bliss?
