Hari means Lord Vishnu. Hari is one of the popular and important names of Lord Vishnu which is a part of this hymn of Shiva . This evidently proves the oneness of Lord Shiva and Lord Vishnu. In Harivamsha Lord Shiva says to Lord Vishnu, "O Govinda , the great names of yourself which are honoured by the world are mine also. There is no doubt in it."
Harati iti harih - The Lord takes away our sorrows and hence this is another meaning of this name.
