Visa Chargeback Reason Code 10.1 describes credit card chargebacks from transactions made with counterfeit EMV chip cards. This most often occurs when fraudsters swipe a card instead of using the chip for a purchase. Merchants are responsible for the transaction if no preventative measures were in place at the time. These chargebacks are difficult to overturn, but with proper documentation, merchants have a chance of getting them reversed.
