An unsung pioneer of the Bay Area hip-hop community Z-Man is far more than just your average emcee. Wry, loose and full of energy on stage, his live performance is like watching to electrical wires sparking into flames in the middle of a busy city street. Over the years Z-Man’s paintings andvisual art have draped many store-fronts and business through the streets of San Francisco.

Stylistically his artwork mirrors the song-writing - both poignantly vivid as it is satirical on some of societies more taboo topics. A scan through his full discography is a testament to his staying power and resilience, but it’s his most recent work the controversial project Animal Slavery that will turn heads the fastest.

More than just some album, Animal Slavery is Z’s long-in-the-works opus to bring awareness to the mistreat mentof animals, how they are enslaved and exploited for corporate gains. Musically it’s hemmed with productionfrom Tahaji The First, yet Z-Man, a life-long vegan, makes it plain in a way that pescatarians, vegetarians

and meat-gobblers can all understand. This is his mos t important work to date. Don’t sleep on what you eat and don’t sleep on Z’s game, it’s food for the soul.

---

Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/sabrina-williams0/support
