GO!

GO!

LET'S GO!

This week, Trevor does a solo review of Hideaki Anno's, Shin Kamen Rider (2023)!

The latest film in the “Shin” series of films, each a reimagined version of a long-running Japanese media franchise from director Hideaki Anno, Shin Kamen Rider (2023) is a remake of/tribute to Shotaro Ishinomori's original Kamen Rider TV series and manga from the 70's.

Filled with the director's signature visual flair, science jargon, and heady, philosophical diatribe, Shin Kamen Rider is very much an Anno production, through and through.

Episodically structured in a similar manner to Shin Ultraman (2022), and immensely crowd pleasing in fits and spurts, Shin Kamen Rider is somewhat of an uneven experience, with occasional moments of brilliance that are unfortunately spaced out across a great deal of material that lacks cohesion.

An enjoyable watch, Shin Kamen Rider is a very good film among a “trilogy” of truly great films.
