In this podcast, we answer the question... Can you explain more about one-to-one counselling?
- One-to-one counselling is an opportunity for the counsellor to get to know the client, and vice versa, in a more intimate setting. That way, the client feels safe and comfortable in disclosing essential details of their life.
- It takes more than one or two sessions for the client to build the trust necessary for the truth to come out.
- One of the most important tasks in counselling is to have the client examine the flaws in their thinking that allowed them the license to drink to excess and/or abuse drugs.
- One-to-one counselling is where the counsellor helps the client change the way they think from unhealthy, dishonest thinking to thinking that is based on the truth.
One-to-one counselling is just part of the bigger picture of addressing the many factors that go into recovery. It is, however, an essential component in uncovering the deeper, emotional issues that need to be addressed.
