In 2000, Michael Franti & Spearhead released their seminal "Stay Human" album, reflecting on the unjust nature of the death penalty among other themes to make sense of our common humanity in juxtaposition to near constant violations of human rights. Now, he and the band have returned with "Stay Human Vol. II." The writing on the album—which is co-produced by Franti alongside Ben Simonetti, Niko Moon, Kevin Bard and others—was heavily influenced by Franti’s work on his new award-winning self-directed documentary, "Stay Human." Franti took the BUILD stage to discuss the new LP and play a few songs for the audience. After you watch the BUILD, listen to the album on Apple Music.
