\nAfter a successful career as a television actor including portraying police officer Wilson Sweet in the television series\xa0In the Heat of the Night\xa0from 1989 to 1994, Thorne began writing professionally, winning Second Prize in\xa0Simon & Schuster's sixth annual\xa0Strange New Worlds\xa0anthology with his story "The Soft Room." He went on to publish more stories in several media tie-in anthologies as well as the\xa0Star Trek: Titan\xa0novel\xa0Sword of Damocles.
\nOther stories he has written include contributions to\xa0Flying Pen Press's anthology\xa0Space Grunts,\xa0MV Media's\xa0Steamfunk\xa0anthology, and\xa0Ellery Queen's Mystery Magazine.
\nAs a screenwriter, Thorne has worked with\xa0Kickstart Entertainment\xa0to develop two of their properties,\xa0Of Bitter Souls\xa0and\xa0Sword of Dracula,\xa0for television. He was a writer for season 9 of the United States network's Law & Order: Criminal Intent, season 2
