There wasn't a name in all of media that had nearly the power of one Steven Spielberg. Fresh off taking audiences on wild rides like Jaws and Raiders of the Lost Ark, as well as setting the box office afire with E.T., he could do no wrong. So the time seemed right to start his own production company, Amblin Entertainment. For his first project out of the box, Spielberg commissioned a script by a newcomer to town by the name of Chris Columbus. With an $11 million budget and the directing reigns of Piranha's Joe Dante at the helm, Spielberg's little project would surely be different from the nasty script he had originally bought. After all, the idea of taking a child to a movie produced by the maker of E.T. and actually walking into a slightly cute version of Invasion of the Body Snatchers would cause an uproar not seen before in cinema. Guess what happened? Also, what all happened that made a sequel to be released not one, not two, but SIX years later? Join myself, Matt, and special guest Jim Law as we do a special Christmas edition of the Binge Movie Aftertaste by reviewing both films of a series that I have been wanting to do for a long time. Please enjoy, and we hope everyone has a Merry Christmas. Gremlins (1984) (?/10, ?/10, ?/10) Gremlins 2: The New Batch (1990) (?/10, ?/10, ?/10) CLICK ABOVE TO LISTEN NOW!
