Detective Javier Chavez is a 12 year veteran of Salt Lake County and works in the Midvale Precinct of Unified Police department. \xa0At UPD, Detective Chavez has taken on a challenging assignment, The Road Home Shelter in Midvale.

Detective Chavez has worked hard to build relationships with the shelter, shelter residents, and local businesses and residents.

These relationships have helped Detective Chavez in his police work as he has been able to solve numerous crimes in the shelter and surrounding area.

Chavez focuses a lot on helping people have positive experiences with the police. \xa0He tries to be very helpful in teaching people about the law and police work. \xa0He has even assisted Road Home residents resolve warrants and other matters so they can get a fresh start. \xa0

The NAACP recently honored Detective Chavez with an award for his great work\xa0
