“What are you looking for?” It’s a simple question, much like you might ask a friend, a partner, a spouse when they’ve misplaced their cell phone or reading glasses. The Irish rock band U2 composed an entire song devoted to this very question. But how cursory of a question is it really? In the Gospel of John, we read that Jesus poses this seemingly benign question to his disciples (and to us). However, could Jesus’ question reveal a deeper significance? One reminiscent of our spiritual yearning for the meaning of life? Neither the question nor the answer is simple. In fact, Jesus’ response, “Come and see” amplifies that there is something significant about his question. There is an intentionality about it that can’t be dismissed and deserves our scrutiny and deeper consideration. Join Pastor Tony Minear, Ph.D. for our new summer worship series, “Just Askin’ – The Questions Jesus Asked Tell Us About Him and Ourselves.” Listen as Pastor Tony explores Jesus’ question from a deeper perspective. Discover ways you can find meaning and wholeness today within yourself. Come and see that the meaning of life is not something out there that is external to us, rather it is found within ourselves because our lives are meaningful. Jesus understood this. Bono, the lead singer of U2, understood this. Do you?
