Gathering 60: The Cynic's New Year

Published: Dec. 30, 2018, 11:30 p.m.

In 2019, are you going to be a “perpetual purveyor of positivism (Auguste Comte) or more of a “nattering nabob of negativism” (Spiro Agnew)?” Either way is a mouthful, but the choice you make could determine how different your “new” year will actually be. Listen as Rev. Peggy Roberts asks us to answer an important question about our attitude as we assess the condition of our hearts this New Year’s Day. Just as the writer of Ecclesiastes 1:1-11 allowed himself to fall into despair and cynicism, we too can easily be resigned into thinking that this “new” year isn’t really going to be new at all. Join us to learn how you can counter cynicism in spite of the culture’s negativity and make an intentional decision to choose hope, and to choose positivity.
