We don’t need no education. We don’t need no thought control. Conformity. Pink Floyd’s 1979 rock opera and film “The Wall” addresses the consequences of conformity through art and song. Founding member, Roger Waters, describes the narrative as showing us “the self-isolating barrier we build over the course of our lives, and the "bricks in the wall" are the people and events that turn us inward and away from others.” We can connect with the message of The Wall because of its emotive power to remind us of what it feels to be powerless and at the mercy of others, be it governmental, societal or familial. Jesus, too, understood what it was to be pressured to conform and be a brick in the Judaean wall. Join us this week as Pastor Tony Minear, Ph.D. examines the issue of conformity and the implications of operating from a posture of fear to just be yourself. Listen and discover how Jesus’ example of courage can empower you to tear down the bricks in the wall that separate and keep you from making love real for others.

Recorded live at Beatitudes Church in Phoenix, AZ on 09/04/20

Preaching: Rev.
