Gathering 121: Let's Talk About...Salvation | The Fall of Humanity and Darwin

Published: March 2, 2020, 12:30 a.m.

Ask most Christians what the gospel of good news is all about and chances are you’ll get the same response, “Jesus died for our sins.” After all, the Bible relates the story of the fall of humanity starting with Adam and Eve, sinners in need of saving, and culminates with Jesus’ death and resurrection reconciling us once more with God. This gospel worked for humanity up until about the 19th century. Enter Charles Darwin. Now suddenly science dispels the notion of salvation and postulates that perhaps Jesus didn’t need to die for our sins because we are innately not broken, just evolved. Join Pastor Tony Minear, Ph.D. as he continues a provocative new worship series designed to explore and stretch your experience and intellectual understanding of a wide range of topics from a Progressive Christian perspective. Listen this week as we explore and talk about salvation. Discover the gospel of good news that’s uniquely tied into evolution through our relationships with one another. Be encouraged to wrestle and ponder these topics in a spiritual community like Beatitudes Church where we as individuals can have authentic and honest discussions in a space of safety and solidarity.
