How do you define devotion? For most people it can be summed up as the love, loyalty or enthusiasm one has for another person, activity or cause. On this Veteran’s Day, a devotion for country might describe a soldier’s response to the call to serve. But what does devotion look like in a Christian context? Some might describe it as a deep sense of faithfulness. Join us as our guest speaker, Pastor Jim Meadows, explores how a Progressive Christian might measure devotion. Much like Barnabas in the early church of Antioch, we too can show a steadfast devotion to Jesus’ example by directing our love, loyalty and enthusiasm to the thousands of veterans in our armed forces today who borne arms in our names and took up the cause to be peacemakers for our country and world. By striving to create a community that cares for them physically, mentally, psychologically and spiritually, they too can know wholeness as we make that steadfast devotion palpable and absolute.
