Gathering 103: Dia de los Muertos

Published: Nov. 4, 2019, midnight

This Sunday marked the festival of All Saints Sunday for the Christian church; a day commemorating all the saints of the church, both known and unknown. In many South American cultures they celebrate a similar tradition, Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead). But why? Some might consider it somewhat morbid to focus on our mortality? After all, when you stop and think about the reality of your own death, doesn’t it smack you in the head leaving you somewhat anxious and unsettled? Join Pastor Tony Minear, Ph.D. as he explores the benefits of contemplating your own mortality. Discover how a balanced approach to thinking about your own death can lend itself to a greater feeling of wholeness. By embracing the idea of death, see how you can truly embrace what it means to live. Recorded live at Beatitudes Church in Phoenix, AZ on 11/3/19 Preaching: Rev. Tony Minear, Ph.D. Scripture Reader: Gayle Lawson Scripture Reference: 1 Corinthians 15:54-55 If you like what you hear, consider donating at: https://www.beatitudeschurch.org/online-giving
