The Daily Mess Vocal Crutching

Coworker Bill found it in his heart to identify one of my vocal crutches. In radio that's what the on air talent do. It's a habit of saying the same thing over and over. Or getting into a question or responding the same way. Bill felt like he was crossing the line. No! A major tool missing from our modern way of sharing conversation is having a vocal crutch buster as part of our circle. Those that have the courage to sharpen our speaking skills in public. The world is changing so quickly but what we're talking about and how we're talking isn't. We're getting lazy with how we develop a thought turned into a conversation. It's as if our habit is reverting back to what we know instead of feeling a need to learn more. Coworker Ryan asks me the same 20 questions each week. I don't have the courage to vocal crutch bust him. I'm part of the problem. Instead of helping him find newer ways to stay interesting I just keep answering the same ole way.
