Holding Onto Summer Memories

A summer day. A summer way. Without these books of spilled ink, I honestly would have no memory of summers passed. Only one consistently jumps into play on any lazy day. The summer of 78. The wild teenagers from the south side of Billings, Montana near Optimist Park. Rob, Neal, Ronae, Kelly, Susan and Bart. These were the inspiration and influence to my published book Halloween 78. The events of the summer were every bit a young adult adventure and nightmare. We ran all over Billings by day and sat in circles listening to loud Rock music while guzzling cheap beer. Slow Ride from Fog Hat and some new band called Van Halen. All on 8-track tape. Oh the memories of the summer of 78! But not from any other year. Being a daily writer 28 summer seasons strong has made me feel lazy by way of exercising my memories. Oh the moments are events are still very much alive. On the pages. To which I can instantly visit but it’s not as deep into my soul like that of the summer of 78.
