Does anyone take baby steps anymore? I don't think babies do! One minute they're in a baby seat then they're up and running through the grocery store collecting what they assume is good food. I've got two grandchildren. Eighteen and sixteen. How did this happen so quickly? It couldn't have been baby steps. The term doesn't fit within our walk these days. I've replaced it with process. According to Dictionary.com baby steps are a tentative act or measure in a long challenging process. When I think of baby steps my heart opens to the idea of gaining access to a sense of discovery as well as the innocence of making simple mistakes. You learn from the baby steps therefore teaching your maturing self to stay clear of potential beginners failure. A great example are my numerous podcasts and the episodes that fit into each performance. I have a better view of calm during the first seven episodes but that changes because the process has got to lead to unwritten success. Baby stepping my way through it will get in the way. In the world of Martial Arts, the Black Belt Path that I live is far away from baby steps. That's what you do as a white belt maybe to green. Then it gets real, which is where most begin to drop out. The challenge becomes too great. New ideas are handed to us daily. Building the foundation requires adult supervision during the baby steps but the goal is to quickly get it to a working path. Awareness is your best tool in the box. Being transparent with yourself will give you better control of time management.
