When I say “Australian Cinema”, the first thing you probably think of is either Mad Max or Crocodile Dundee. While it’s true, these two characters no doubt are Australia’s biggest contributions to pop culture, there is one little film from the 1980s that’s often overlooked, yet was at the forefront of a burgeoning movement that was about to blow up and create an entirely new world of extreme sports, not to mention, introduce the world to a certain future film star…

Listen as we discuss the weirdly sexualized alternate VHS covers for BMX Bandits; we wonder if the film’s alternate title of “Short Wave” would have been a more apt description for this walkie-talkie obsessed movie; and finally, we try our hand at some fan fiction as we attempt to build a more fleshed out backstory for the unfortunately named character of “Fat Kid”.
