This week on the show we hear from the hella amazing\xa0Deniese Davis,\xa0producer AND the COO/co-founder of ColorCreative, a production company she started with Issa Rae that focuses on under represented voices.
Deniese was born and raised in the blue collar work force of Las Vegas. She knew from a very young age, 16, to be exact, that she wanted to be a producer. Since no real entertainment industry existed in Vegas, she enrolled in AFI\u2019s Producing Program and packed her bags for\xa0Los Angeles.
After graduating, she earned her stripes working as a freelance line producer, working on MANY shoots with budgets under $100k.
It is no small feat and\xa0speaks volumes to her work ethic and determination.
The stars eventually aligned and she crossed paths with the equally as hardworking and ambitious Issa Rae. Together, they brought The Misadventures of Awkward Black Girl to life.
The show\xa0was a huge hit on YouTube and eventually became the blueprint for INSECURE on HBO, a hilarious comedy about female friendships and growing up.
During our\xa0time together, we discuss why it\u2019s important to take time to re-calibrate and reset your soul, why she is sensitive about the producer title, and how she finessed her hustle.
Can't wait to hear what you think!
