An interest in cinema led Darius to begin traveling back and forth from San Diego to Los Angeles to attend Film Festival in screenwriting seminars to understand structure and discipline of film making craft (2004-08). After shooting and editing his first short film WEALTH( 2009), and receiving rave reviews along with being aired locally in Chicago, he made the decision to retire from his job with the gas company after 12 years and move to Los Angeles to pursue his passion for film in 2012.

He attended film school at video Symphony Film and Post production in Burbank California (2013-14) and graduated top of his class while also landing his first job in the industry at \u201cMy Eye Media Post Production\u201d during his last semester in film school.
