Anette visits with her friend, Dr. Aaron Pan, Executive Director of the Museum of Texas Tech University and Associate Professor in Practice, Museum of Texas Tech University. With a focus on lifelong learning, Aaron discusses areas of interest from paleobotany to kleptoparasitic bees, and all things museum-related as well.\n\nDr. Pan\xa0received his Bachelors\xa0of\xa0Arts degree in Creative Studies \u2013 Biology Emphasis\xa0with high honors\xa0from the University of California Santa Barbara in\xa02002\xa0and his Doctor of Philosophy in Geology \u2013\xa0Paleobotany\xa0Emphasis from\xa0the Roy M. Huffington\xa0Department of Earth Sciences\xa0at\xa0Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas in 2007. Dr. Pan served as the Curator of Science at the Fort Worth Museum of Science and History from 2008 \u2013 2012 and as the Executive Director of the Don Harrington Discovery Center in Amarillo, Texas from 2012 \u2013 2020.\xa0Dr. Pan\xa0joined the Museum of Texas Tech University as its executive director in\xa0May 2020.\xa0Dr. Pan\xa0actively\xa0conducts research\xa0in\xa0paleobotany, entomology, and malacology\xa0and publishes\xa0scientific\xa0articles on prehistoric African forest\xa0plants, abalone systematics,\xa0velvet ant mimicry and evolution, and the ecology, behavior, and conservation of native bees. Pan is\xa0also a research associate\xa0at the Botanical Research Institute of Texas(B.R.I.T.) in Fort Worth (BRIT),\xa0serves\xa0on the\xa0Texas Tech University Black Cultural Center\u2019s Advisory\xa0Committee,\xa0Texas Tech Public Media Community Advisory Board, and\xa0Board of Trustees of\xa0Cal Farley\u2019s Boys Ranch.
