One of the most disturbing multiple murders in California history occurred on April 11, 1981, when three victims \u2013 a mother, her teenage son, and the son's friend \u2013 were beaten to death in a remote cabin in the woods while children slept soundly in the next room. A fourth victim \u2013 a 12-year-old daughter \u2013 vanished in the night, and her body was found a year later, miles away from the gruesome scene. The murders remain unsolved to this day, but it went on to inspire THE STRANGERS, one of the most terrifying films ever made.
