The technology behind sighting weaponry on aircraft developed throughout the twentieth century. Starting from Sir Howard Grubb\u2019s 1901 patent and the rapid progress made on the use of weaponry on aircraft during World War, Christopher Bartlett, then Chief Engineer of the Mission Avionics Division of GEC Marconi, explains how the technology behind weapon aiming evolved into the digital age and beyond. \n\nThis lecture was delivered to the Royal Aeronautical Society\u2019s Historical Group on 19 February 1998.
