Feeling out of control with food or TV or organization or exercise? This episode is a broad overview of habit creation, where we discuss five Habit Hints:

1. Choose just one thing to start with (and it doesn\'t matter what you choose). When we begin shifting our mindset in one area, we often experience a ripple effect to other areas (bonus!). Plus, it gives us confidence to create more changes in the areas we want to.

\\n

2. Start where you are, and know that progress is NOT linear. Don\'t use set-backs as evidence that it\'s not working. Forward is forward; speed doesn\'t matter.

\\n

3. Attach the new habit to pleasure. (We never get in the habit of doing anything that we hate doing.)

\\n

4. Plan the logistics to make it as easy as possible (and if you want to stop a habit or bring awareness to a mindless habit, "reverse engineer" this to make it difficult-- for example, take the batteries out of the remote, put the candy in the far side of the house, remove social media apps from your phone etc.)

\\n

5. One decision, one time. Decide and then stick to it. If there\'s more food on my plate than I know I should eat, instead of picking at it and mindlessly continuing to eat, I\'ll push it aside, audibly say "I\'m full," signaling to myself that the meal is complete, and I don\'t need to consider eating more food.
