Now that we have engaged with inquiry thinking through engaging, challenging, relevant, and signficant, it helps us to think about planning on a deeper level.\\xa0 We will create our unit plan thinking through these questions: \\xa0

  • How will students create goals based on success criteria?\\xa0
  • How is the classroom arranged to invite inquiry?\\xa0 Who is making these decisions?
  • What materials are being used?\\xa0 Is there a balance across all the content areas?\\xa0
  • What questions are being posed?\\xa0 Is there a balance between open and closed questions?\\xa0
  • What strategies are being modeled, so students can become more independent?\\xa0
  • How are student inquiries celebrated?
  • How will students self and peer assess their understanding of the big ideas?\\xa0

Once you've planned with these questions in mind, you will have a more inquiry-driven learning happening in your classroom.\\xa0 Students will be contributors to the learning experience, because the setting has been prepared for their ideas and explorations.\\xa0
