The big-tent message from the Democrats on night one of their virtual convention was clear: from socialists to Republicans, a diverse coalition of speakers took turns talking about the urgent need to defeat President Trump. Michelle Obama sealed that message with her speech; but interestingly enough, Joe Biden, wasn't that prominent. The Senate Intelligence Committee released their final report on Russian interference in the 2016 election, which goes deep into contacts between the Trump campaign and Russian intelligence -- so we'll take a look at their much debated conclusions. If you want to beat the novel coronavirus, you have to understand how to build up immunity to it; and that's exactly what researchers at Cedars Sinai are hoping to do.........but they need your help....... And perhaps no one in the history of the House of Representatives had a quicker rise and fall than Katie Hill.  The former Democratic Congresswoman from Santa Clarita was part of a vibrant freshman class in 2018, only to resign about a year into her term over a sex scandal linked to what she says was a pattern of abuse by her ex. Katie Hill comes to In Depth to talk gender equality.......and lessons learned. See omnystudio.com/policies/listener for privacy information. Big & White, their podcasting nicknames, are two American Linguists who, until very recently were living in Nepal and creating a rather hilarious audio account of their daily lives. Their episodes covered much of what expat podcasts cover (https://www.podchaser.com/lists/expat-podcasts-107ZztJV0y) like food, weather, language, and cultural differences but there is an extra kick to their podcast. Their connection and how they bounce off each other is so much fun to listen to. This is the main reason I became a fan of The Big & White Podcast in the first place and definitely why I asked to interview them for the show. Don't worry, we also talk about podcasting bits like technology, social media, podcast learning curve, editing, audience feedback, Nepali podcasts, guests and advice for new Podcasters also. But this conversation is a bit more free flowing than some of the other Geopats Podcasting episodes because we dipped into some of their content topics too like their visual stickoutness in Nepal (thus the name of the podcast), weight lifting and so much more. And since they are Linguists that were doing field work all over Nepal, there is an episode coming on Geopats Language podcast with that geeking out aspect as well. Sound note: This interview was recorded pre-covid, when I was living in an apartment with extremely bad internet. Part of the delay with this episode is due to the sound issues that came up in post because of these tech issues. When we recorded, the podcast was hosted on Podbean and we decided to experiment with their beta audio live feature to chat with the audience. This was a lot of fun but had some disadvantages. Although we did a double ender for our own tracks (Vishu and I), the Podbean live track with the wonderful callers is NOT the best sound quality. So, if you are sensitive to that, feel free to skip ahead about 8 minutes once you get to that part. It's about halfway into the episode. This episode is a special one for sure. As many of you who have been listening to the podcast, follow me on the socials, or participate in #PodRevDay know, I am a huge fan ofPodchaser, the IMDB of Podcasting. But some folks I talk to outside of the U.S. have expressed concerns about some Podchaser features not working as well in the country that they lived in. So, what else could I do but ask Bradley Davis, the Co-founder/CEO Podchaser on the show to ask him some globally-minded Podchaser questions.  Bradley and I cover accessibility and language issues, combined geographic & language search dream functionality, the push and pull of keeping podcasting open and the messiness that organically ensues and so much more. What we intentionally don’t cover are Podchaser or Bradley’s podcasting origin stories. Why? Because they have already been well covered on other podcasts this year (Podlovers Asia, Inspired Money, and The New Media Show), I am instead adding to these episodes in the show notes at https://www.stephfuccio.com/geopatspodcasting/13Bradley's Info:Twitter: https://twitter.com/beradleydavisPodchaser account: https://www.podchaser.com/creators/bradley-davis-107Zzj5f17Podcast interviews with Bradley that cover Podchaser's origin story (and other stories as well):1.
