Breaking Down Anxiety & Depression With Dr. Lauren Cook

Published: May 3, 2021, 9 a.m.

Happy Mental Health Awareness Month!! Mental health Awareness Month is a month that is meant to be celebrated. Let us celebrate that we are destigmatizing mental health issues and having open and honest conversations that will help everyone to know that they are not alone.

Our first guest for Mental Health Awareness Month is Dr. Lauren Cook. Dr. Lauren is a phenomenal therapist that shares her expertise of how we can identify anxiety and depression and take better care of ourselves. Not being the scary person behind the desk, Lauren is open and honest about her own personal struggles with anxiety and  is committed to creating a safe environment for all of her clients. Lauren breaks down what the difference is between anxiety vs. stress, depression vs. just a down day, and when it is time for you or someone you know that is struggling to get help. Lauren educates the listeners on how diet and exercise affects our mental health and how getting our blood work can be very beneficial in identifying where we are lacking. Lauren offers great tips and tricks of how we can manage our anxiety attacks, resources we can turn to, and a deeper understanding of how anxiety affects everyone differently.

Inspired by this conversation, Shannon shares with the listeners her journey this week and how she has chosen to go back to seeing a licensed professional consistently. Shannon discusses her experience with finding a therapist and why she is making the change now to the type of therapy she is receiving. Shannon also shares the exciting things to come for Mental health Awareness Month and how you can support.
