How To Be Fully Present

Published: Dec. 8, 2020, 11 a.m.

We live in the digital era that makes us so connected and reliant on the internet and technology that sometimes we can hardly live in the moment. Today, I want to talk about how to be fully present and how you can be more active by establishing strong relationships with others.

Let’s dive into this episode and let me tell you three things that will allow you to make this happen.

  • I share my experience of being fully present lately
  • When was the last time you took a deep breath and said to yourself that you are so grateful to be in this moment?
  • I am going to share with you 3 vital things to be fully present

[03:21 - 10:07] Disconnecting

  • Disconnect yourself from social media, and mobile phones
    • Turn off your social media notifications.
    • I recommend a book, called “Digital Minimalism”
    • Leave your phone, put it away, or ignore it when you are socializing with others.

  • To be fully present we have to get comfortable with being still.
  • Finding moments to take a breath and remember what we are grateful for.
    • Become aware of your surroundings.
  • Start to meditate and slow down your thoughts.

[13:50 - 18:30] Practice Active Listening

  • In conversations with others try to be focused and really listening, not just hearing.
    • Pay attention to what the other person is saying.
    • Ask questions to clarify what they really mean.
    • Summarize what they say back to them.
    • Do not interrupt someone when they are talking.
    • Respond appropriately without judgment.
  • Building a meaningful relationship with others by practicing active listening
