This episode, Tara interviews Clare Cameron, Councillor and Deputy Lord Mayor of Niagara-on-the-Lake.

Clare shares her love of history, how she has maintained positivity despite COVID and how important it is to maintain a sense of humour in tough situations.

Clare was born and raised in Niagara. She grew up in Jordan Village in the Town of Lincoln and visited Niagara-on-the-Lake frequently as a child. Clare met her husband Mac while both were working at Fort George in 2003. They moved to Virgil in 2011, where they are now raising a young family.

As a Town Councillor, Clare is one of eight elected individuals who with the Lord Mayor represent all of the residents in Niagara-on-the-Lake, across all of our communities including Virgil, St. Davids, Old Town, Glendale, Queenston and rural areas.

The role of Deputy Lord Mayor is designated by by-law to the person who wins the greatest share of votes among Councillor candidates during a general municipal election.

In addition to her duties as a member of Committee of the Whole and Council, Clare is also a member of the following advisory committees: Municipal Heritage, Urban Design, Riverbrink Museum Board, Customer Experience and Technology (Vice-Chair) and Lord Mayor’s Economic Development Task Force (Chair).
