The Tobacco Buyout: a Game-Changer

Tobacco is deeply rooted in our area, and not just physically. Western Kentucky has been a strong producer of tobacco for hundreds of years. Statistics from 1972 to 2008 indicate our area added anywhere from 3 point 5 to 11 million pounds of burley tobacco to the annual state total, an average of 348 million pounds annually.
