Merely knowing a lot does not help you to know yourself. We can see that through many people of higher learning who are still petty and foolish, arrogant and vain. I like the sentiment here because he puts it forth very clearly as to why: You don\u2019t value it and therefore you don\u2019t pursue it, and moreover, you never will until you do. He also would seem to include himself among their number.
