Leonard Bernstein At Work

Leonard Bernstein is recognized as one of the greatest musical minds of all time.  During his illustrious career, he composed the music for West Side Story and Candide.  But, perhaps he’s best known as the longtime music director of the New York Philharmonic.  His distinctive style of conducting was unmistakable.  Bernstein died in 1990 at the age of 72.  A new book gives us a peek inside the world of this remarkable maestro.  Our guest is performing arts photographer Steve Sherman.  Sherman's book is called Leonard Bernstein at Work – His Final Years 1984 – 1990.
