The national average price of diesel rose again, this time by 2.1 cents per gallon, according to the Energy Information Administration’s weekly data released yesterday. Diesel now costs an average of $2.462, which is its most expensive mark since April 20. The increase follows a spike reported by the EIA last week, when diesel shot up 5.8 cents — more than twice the previous weekly increase high for the year. Despite the recent upturn, a gallon of diesel is still about 60 cents cheaper now than at this point a year ago.
