The United States government announced yesterday it had recovered the majority of the ransom paid to the hackers of Colonial Pipeline. The company paid $4.4 million in response to the cyberattack, which halted much of the company’s operations on the East Coast and sparked fuel shortages in May. The attack was allegedly perpetrated by a Russia-linked group called DarkSide, and U.S. officials noted stopping similar cyberattacks has become a national security priority.
