The collapse of the Afghan government and the Taliban's recapture of power is the latest chapter in that country's history.

President Biden has defended his withdrawal from Afghanistan by saying that some chaos was inevitable.

And, he’s said that that U.S. troops will stay in Afghanistan until all American civilians are out.

Just earlier this afternoon, President Biden added fresh remarks about the situation and evacuations.

Today, experts join us to discuss the President’s latest message and the consequences of the US withdrawal.

We also discuss the ordeal and journey made by a local Afghan couple, who -- along with their three children -- have successfully made it to Houston. We connect with them through Interfaith Ministries for Greater Houston.

Plus, a Stanford University professor is here with a deeper dive into the history and conflict that exists in this region.

Guests:

Ashley Faye

Robert Crews

  • Professor of history at Stanford University

Morad and Sanga

  • Husband and wife who escaped Afghanistan with their three children
  • They are not using their last names in order to protect their identity.
