Opening arguments for the Derek Chauvin trial over George Floyd's killing were heard today. Although many have reached a conclusion in the court of public opinion, our expert reminds listeners that the court is not there to persuade the public.

"They're there to prove the elements of the crime they charged Mr. Chauvin with," said civil trial attorney, Sean Roberts.

Then, today is the first day of Texas expansion of COVID vaccine availability to those who are 16 or older. Our COVID expert returns to answer listener questions and concerns regarding the vaccine, including why the age limit is set to 16 and not children who are younger.

Guests:

Sean Roberts:

Dr. Jill Weatherhead:

  • Assistant Professor in Tropical Medicine and in Infectious Disease at Baylor College of Medicine

Those who qualify in Harris County can sign up for a vaccine here.

Town Square with Ernie Manouse is a gathering space for the community to come together and discuss the day’s most important and pressing issues.

Audio from today's show will be available after 5 p.m. CT. We also offer a free podcast here, on iTunes, and other apps.
